Lesson planning can be at two stages. At the beginning of each semester, teachers draft out a long-range plan 'for the semester. They begin by studying the course syllabus and the textbooks (if any) and plan roughly how to divide the lessons in the semester. The long-rang plan shows the sequence of the lessons throughout the semester and indicates how the indicators in the core curriculum are planned to be covered. After seeing roughly how to proceed over the course of the semester, teachers then spend time on a more careful planning of the daily lesson plans 'or the'unit plans'. For some learnin outcomes, teachers may need more than one teaching period to cover all of the content, so they will write a unit plan to show how the content will be covered in a series of lessons. And for the learning outcome that can be achieved in one period, a daily lesson plan will be written to show how much ime in the period be used for the instructional activities.
