Before any training session, coaches need to determine whether they want to emphasise coaching (skills and tactics) or conditioning (physical work). This could then apply to the whole session or within the individual activities scheduled. As discussed, stopping on activity frequently to make protracted coaching points will reduce the overall effectiveness of any training session considerably. In any case, coaches should consider that it may be more productive to highlight a few specific technical points at the beginning of a session, than to emphasise only these issues throughout the session, ideally without stopping play.
