The activation energy (Ea) values for the grain hydration were
obtained using the constant E0 from E0 ¼ Ea/R, where R is the universal
gas constant equal to 8.31 kJ/mol.K. The values of Ea were
34.8 kJ/mol for the cultivar 2B587 and 35.0 kJ/mol for the cultivar
2B587 Hx. The higher activation energy value indicates that the
grain hydration rate tends to be more sensitive to temperature
(Sobukola and Abayomi, 2011).
