3.2. X-ray diffraction
The X-ray diffraction patterns of control and irradiated (20 kGy) freshwater prawns were presented in Fig. 3(aeb). The control prawn showed the peaks at diffraction angles 2q of 12?, 14?, 16?, 18, 20? and 22?. Although the irradiated prawn exhibited no significant changes in the basic diffraction pattern, a slight shifting of the observed at high doses. Similar results were also obtained for tiger prawn Fig. 3(ced). The average intensity of the Xray diffraction increased slightly in irradiated prawns of both the species and the diffraction pattern was less organized than the control due to the deformity of the muscle structure at high radiation dose.
