There are two very serious pests, both fortunately of limited geographical range. One of these is a primitive moth Agathiphaga, which has been known from Queensland since 1952 (A. queenslandensis) (Dumbleton 1952) and also occurs in Fiji and the southern New Hebrides (A. vitiensis). In 1976 the second species was discovered by the author also to be present on Ndendo, one of the Santa Cruz islands
