Our findings are in agreement with other studies which also found that having a husband with low levels of edu- cation can be a barrier to access to antenatal care ser- vices [7]. However, having a poor relationship with the baby’s father, despite his presence during the pregnancy, may also negatively influence antenatal care attendance [30]. Our findings also resonate with those of other stud- ies which found that late attendance to ANC was associ- ated with factors such as unstable relationships with the unborn baby’s father, having a lower educated and em- ployment status [32, 33].
