The Receptionist is responsible for the stays of guests in the hotel. He or she maintains the guest folder from arrival to payment on departure. Depending on the individual hotels, he or she may also:
- Man the telephone switchboard and take reservations
- Manage the till and prepare bills
- Look after some items of accountancy (refunds, payment of invoices deferred by travel agencies, etc.).
- To welcome guests
- To ensure that guests receive high quality service
- To promote loyalty amongst a broad range of customers
- To manage a till
