Walker’s performance comes three weeks after his young niece died in a tragic car accident.
It would be an understandable distraction and even a reason for Walker to take time away from football.
Instead, Walker is reminding everyone why he was chased hard by Melbourne and South Sydney for next season.
He’s freakishly talented and tough.
“Cody Walker is amazing for this team. To do what he did today … he’s a bit busted at the moment but he showed a lot of courage,” Tigers coach Craig Ingebrigtsen said.
“He’s had a hard time with the death of his niece. I just really feel for him.
“He’s really been battling away.
“Instead of making it an issue he just wants to play footy.”
Walker said he knew his niece would be looking down on him as he quested for a premiership triumph.
