Pearson’s correlation coefficients (r) showed that there was a strong positive correlation between TOM loss and ash content (0·995), hemicellulose loss (0·951), cellulose loss (0·905) and lignin loss (0·796). Water soluble content was correlated positively with cellulose loss (0·840) and in vitro digestibility with lignin loss (0·856).
