cations asadditivesinfoodindustry, fine chemicalsynthesis,
pharma, detergents,cosmetics,leatherprocessing,biodieselpro-
duction, biomedicalassaysandwastewatertreatments(Colla
et al.,2010; Burkertetal.2004; Elibol andOzer2000; Kamini
et al.,2000). Despitecoldactivelipaseproducingbacteriaand
yeastarereportedfromaroundtheglobe,productionofcoldac-
tivelipasesisunderexplored(Joseph etal.,2007). Theabilityof
cold activeenzymestocatalyzereactionsatlowormoderate
temperatureprovidesindustrialandbiotechnologicalpotential
(Gomes andSteiner,2004).Coldactiveenzymeshaveadditional
advantagethattheycanbeinactivatedbytreatmentatlowtem-
peratureforshorttimeperiods(Margesinetal.,2002)reducing
energy consumptionandcost.
