A correlation for the prediction of the minimum fluidization velocity in 2D fluidized beds was proposed. The equation was obtained by fluidizing spherical particles in a 2D bed and varying the bed thickness (between 0.5 and 2.0 cm) and the fixed bed height (between 10 and 30 cm). The results indicated that wall effects on the minimum fluidization velocity can be neglected when the bed thickness to particle size ratio is t/dpN 100.
