In the
search for microbiologically active compounds from Ganoderma
species, the majority of research has been performed on extracts
from the fruiting body and mycelium, and there are a few studies
on antimicrobial activity of isolated fractions or pure polysaccharides.
It appears that there are a number of biologically active compounds
to be found in the mycelium and fruiting body, but
antimicrobial activity evaluation of chemically characterized polysaccharides
is very limited. It could be only noted that (1?3)-b-Dglucan
with (1?6)-b-D branches could act as antimicrobial agent
in vivo.
