The Suvarnabhumi airport taxi drive

The Suvarnabhumi airport taxi driver caught on video cheating a Japanese passenger on Friday faced the music when he reported to the Department of Land Transport (DLT).
Udon Sasanasupin, 61, met inspectors at 6am. He paid a 3,000-baht fine and was reprimanded and ordered never to pick up passengers at the airport again.
Authorities also warned him he would lose his taxi licence if he repeats the offence.
On Dec 26, Mr Udon reportedly covered the screen of his taxi's fare meter with a cloth while queuing at the airport.
Later, his Japanese passenger discovered his fare had begun at 75 baht instead of the official 35-baht rate
The driver later claimed that he forgot he had activated the meter well before the client got in. However, the passenger's video clip showed Mr Udon claiming that authorities had raised the start fare...
Teerapong Rodprasert, director-general of the DLT, said yesterday he ordered certified taxi-meter suppliers to find ways to prevent any party from modifying the devices to cheat passengers
