In the present article, we offer a 45year (1963–2007) content analysis and review of published research in INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL psychology in the two leading journals in the field: Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP) and Personnel Psychology (PPsych). Such an analysis and review affords us the opportunity to assess the extent to which the field of INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL psychology is producing research that addresses the questions mentioned above and, therefore, allows us to inform the important discussion of the extent to which the field is achieving its goals and fulfilling its mission.
