The signing of Arda Turan is warming up. An agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid, the player and his agents. Now all that remains is for Barcelona to make the signing of the Turkish midfielder official.
The decision has come from Barcelona's supervising board, more specifically from president Ramon Adell, with it believed that the announcement will be postponed until the new Barcelona president is announced. They understand that on top of the deal (worth 35 million euros) it was important that the decision is taken by the new president who will take charge on the 18th of July.
However, in recent hours, the same supervising board have listened to their first-team manager and decided to call an extraordinary meeting on Monday. It is regarding the fact that the signing of Arda Turan could escape them if they don't take firm action soon.
On the one hand, Luis Enrique wants him, and on the other, Arda Turan and Atletico Madrid don't want to start the season with the player still at the Vicente Calderon. Furthermore, Arda Turan, who dreams of playing for Barcelona, is subject to pressure from the biggest clubs in the Premier League, due to which he could reject Barcelona's offer.
Barcelona, specifically the supervising board, have called this 'extra-time' for Monday, in an urgent meeting where they will meet to take a definitive decision.
They already know the thoughts of their own manager Luis Enrique, who has wanted Arda Turan for two months. During all of this time, scouts of Barcelona have been writing reports on Atleti's Turkish central midfielder and have reached the conclusion that he would be an interesting player for Barcelona. Together with Aleix Vidal, they are the two players that Enrique has asked for. The report in question, aside from his strong personality, his technical and physical ability are considered ideal for Barcelona. Due to this, his signing is recommended. Now, the ball is in the supervising board's court.
