3.2. Biocide susceptibility in S. thermophilus strains
For the 135 isolates of S. thermophilus, the MIC values of the disinfectants
tested were distributed between 0.125 and 4 μg for BC ml−1
(Fig. 1A), between 1 and 8 μg for Tr ml−1 (Fig. 1B), between 0.125 and
2 μg for Ch ml−1 (Fig. 1C), and between 0.05 and 0.4 μg for SH ml−1
(Fig. 1D). For all biocides tested, a unimodal distribution was obtained,
thus suggesting that there was only one population, suggesting the absence
of a potential epidemiological cut-off (ECOFF) (Kahlmeter et al.,
2003).
