Exercise has to do as early as possible to prevent other complications. Several exercises have been suggested for burn patients. Stiffness is common in burn patients both in joints effected by a burn injury and in other joints when immobilized for periods of time. Therefore, range of motion (ROM) exercise is recommended to improve affected joint ROM for several times a day. The patients are required to do active, active-assisted or passive ROM exercise. Moreover, the patients or the physical therapist should do the exercise through end ROM. Patients require development of movement habits that are patient specific from day of injury, not when surgery has been completed or dependent on the wound being partially or completely healed. Prior to starting to prescribe the ROM exercise to a patient, it is important to check there has been no recent surgery such as skin grafting or medical issues that contraindicates getting the patient up and moving.
