iii) Clippers and Knives: Some fruits such as citrus, grapes and mangoes, need to be clipped or cut from the plant (Figure 3). Clippers or knives should be kept well sharpened and clean. Peduncles, woody stems or spurs should be trimmed as close as possible to prevent fruit from damaging neighboring fruits during transport. Care should be taken to harvest pears so that the spurs are not damaged. Pruning shears can be used for harvesting fruits and some vegetables.
