Furthermore, the spatial expression pattern of OsLTPL36 was examined by in situ hybridization (Fig. 2A–I). Consistent with the qRT-PCR result, the strong expression signal of OsLTPL36 was observed in seed of 3, 5, 7 and 10 DAP (Fig. 2D–I). In 3 and 5DAP seeds, the hybridization signal of OsLTPL36 was detected in the embryo and seed surface with the most strong signal observed in the seed coat (Fig. 2D–E). At 7 DAP, the signal was detected in both the embryo and endosperm (Fig. 2F). In the 7 and 10 DAP endosperm, expression signal was observed in aleurone (Fig. 2H–I).Thus in all, the expression of OsLTPL36 was specifically high in the developing seed. It was strongly expressed in developing seed coat and endosperm aleurone cells. The expression pattern of OsLTPL 36 suggested that it might play a role in seed development.
