The application
of Pro Seal with a bristle brush is recommended, as there were
signifi cantly fewer bubbles created on application, which
could be exposed by toothbrushing or other abrasion. Eberle
found less decalifi cation with MI Paste and Prevident than
MI Paste with Crest toothpaste. For orthodontic patients in
treatment, Dr. Staley recommends prescribing Prevident 5000
toothpaste. In treatment, placing a sealant over a white spot
lesion is probably better than applying fluoride varnish. MI
Paste may improve some white spot lesions, but if extensive
enough a composite resin restoration may need to be placed.
