The purpose of this quantitative research was to evaluate leadership styles of
business leaders in the Caribbean Islands of Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago
and, ascertain to what extent cultural orientations influence the preference of
transactional versus transformational leadership styles. Analysis was conducted on the
perceptions of business leaders in these three islands to identify leadership style
preferences. The data collected through the use of survey instruments was analyzed to
ascertain if there were cultural differences existing among these countries. The
correlation between cultural orientation and the leadership styles of transactional and
transformational leadership subscales were analyzed according to the hypotheses.
