Suzuki is back with a couple of more preview images of their brand new Baleno hatchback.
This time around we get a better look at the front end which unsurprisingly looks similar to the iK-2 concept shown earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. The fascia of the production car isn't as exciting as the concept's front, but overall the layout has been maintained and the design is clean and simple as it should be on an affordable hatchback.
Suzuki keeps referring to the Baleno as a compact model, but the aforementioned concept was supermini-sized and chances are the production car will retain just about the same proportions: 4023 mm length, 1920 mm width, 1450 mm height and with a 2520 mm wheelbase. The interior cabin promises to be spacious and will have a generous cargo capacity, but exact figures are not available at this point.
Power will come from a newly developed direct-injection turbocharged 1.0-liter BOOSTERJET engine and there's also a new system called Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) incorporating an integrated starter generator to assist the engine. Corroborated with a lightweight construction, the new Baleno aims to provide increased fuel efficiency while meeting "dynamic performance expectations."
A full reveal is scheduled for September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales in Europe to being next spring.
