Research findings and clinical practice support the
following interventions for managing urinary incontinence32-36:
• modifying the amount, type, and timing of fluid
intake
• pelvic floor muscle, or Kegel, exercises
• rapid pelvic contraction exercises, often called
the “Knack” maneuver
• bladder training, including modifying voiding
intervals
• weight management
• constipation management
