Design and Assembly of a Sterile Nanoscale Orthopedic Biomaterial
Abstract-This paper details the design and manufacture of a
synthetic biomemtic bone biomaterial. The material is a
composite of collagen fibrils and nanometer sized mineral
apatites to enhance its resorbability over previous
hydroxyapatite ceramics and bone cements. An aseptic protocol
for producing a sterile composite has been developed and tested.
It is now possible to use this biomaterial in cell experiments.
