• Enhanced functionality in CPE
If CPE included a simple ‘help-me’ button which
performed a predefined set of diagnostic tests, an
immediate indication of where to start looking
could be given. The idea would be that the very first
step any user would take, whatever the symptoms
being experienced, would be to press this button.
This would include the case of intermittent
problems, where pressing the ‘help-me’ button
would initiate logging of current session data —
this could be particularly valuable to the service
provider if the service is working fine at the time the
support call is made and investigated by the service
provider.
The functionality of the ‘help-me’ button would be
programmable using firmware that is automatically
updated, when (for example) analysis of support
calls reveals a valuable additional check that should
be performed.
