This definition succinctly identifies the two major objectives of internal curing, maximizing hydration and minimizing self-desiccation (and its accompanying stresses that may produce early-age cracking). The two major objectives of the present report are to provide a 2010 perspective on the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice of internal curing and to comment on emerging developments and future extensions of the internal curing concept.
