Significant decay losses can occur after harvest, during storage
and marketing of citrus fruit, primarily due to green mold
(GM), caused by Penicillium digitatum (Pers.:Fr.) Sacc. and blue mold
(BM), caused by Penicillium italicum Wehmer. Chemical fungicides
are used to control these diseases, but alternatives are needed to
produce residue-free fruit and hinder pathogen resistance development.
