2. You will be playing the role of Deputy HSR. Choose to act in that role as either the Senior Forklift Operator or the Payroll Officer.
3. Prepare for the role-play meeting with your workplace Health and Safety Representative (HSR) to discuss the WHS rules and regulations that apply to your company. For the purposes of this assessment, the HSR role will be played by your assessor. Consider the following questions:
a. What current WHS rules and regulations apply to Brisbane Blinds?
b. Is Brisbane Blinds compliant with its own WHS policy and WHS legislation?
c. What WHS written procedures does Brisbane Blinds have?
d. How could you apply rules and regulations or compliance codes to Brisbane Blinds? What changes or actions would you make to help the organisation comply? Give two examples.
e. What WHS duty holders currently have roles in work health and safety at Brisbane Blinds? What are their roles and obligations under legislation?
f. What legal obligation does Brisbane Blinds have towards its workforce with regard to consultation and training? Refer to at least one rules and regulation or a code of practice.
g. What might the consequences/results of non-compliance be for Brisbane Blinds? Give two examples of possible failures and any fines.
4. Use the internet to research answers to the above questions. Keep notes on the websites visited and the information you collected.
5. Arrange to meet with your workplace HSR (assessor) at a convenient/right time to discuss your answers.
