Transcript of Angela Lee Duckworth: The key to success? Grit
Grit is something that is overlooked a lot and we do not know much about it. Grit is an individual's passion for a particular long-term goal or end state; passion and perseverance for a goal you seek to obtain.
You have to live life like its a marathon instead of a quick foot race. By that I mean you can't give your all at somethings, you have to give everything 110 % in order for you to set yourself up for long-term success.
People with grit are more likely to overcome adversity or stick through things when things seem like there are not going well. Passion is big because if you do it for love then the money becomes easy. If what you do is something you dreamed of and longed to do, then everything will fall into place much easier than someone doing it for the money. We all needed to be pushed sometimes, so you have to remember always push yourself through any downfalls and self-doubt. We tend to doubt ourselves when things go as planned, but we have to be mindful that failure is not forever and success can always be a couple steps away as long as we stick with it.
Belief is huge part of success well. If you don't believe you can do it then you are setting yourself up for failure. You will not put forth your best efforts if you have convinced yourself you don't have what it takes to win.
Growth mindset takes a large portion of success qualities. We have to believe that we can change are intelligence. Believe that success is the only option and failure is so far beneath you. Think highly of yourself and what you can achieve. Confidence and persistence are keys you need to hold on to down the road to overachieve and succeed standards.
Be your own believer before you let someone else feel like you can reach high mountains!
