The relationship between myocardial dysfunction and stroke volume is also identified by Watchell et al. (2010) based on the LIFE study. This prospective study was carried out in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy and systemic hypertension to assess the prognostic significance of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. According to the study results, normal in-treatment left ventricular filling was strongly associated with reduced risk for hospitalization because of heart failure.
