By treatment with 001×7
resin, the pH of the digestate was reduced to 6.0, and 54.7 mmol·L-1 of alkalinity was
removed, in good agreement with the total of 53.3 mmol·L-1 cations also removed.
Ammonium was depleted by 82%, and its concentration in the effluent reduced to 8.9
mmol·L-1 (125 mg·L-1). It can be seen that 001×7 resin treatment meets the
requirements of the integrated process for control of ammonium concentration and pH
of the digestate.
