Chromatographic (combined with enzymatic) techniques that would be able to quantify the unit chain length distribution of amylose remain to be developed to verify this suggestion. Furthermore, since the method for separating essentially linear amylose from the branched ones remains to be developed, the branching nature of amylose is to be debated. The unit chains of amylopectin are believed to cluster in the granules (Nikuni, 1978).
