Monotemporal Change DelineationIn monotemporal change delineation, the pattern recognition routine itself functions as thechange detection algorithm, encompassing all classification and enhancement methods developed forsingle-scene analysis. However, the technique relies heavily on strong assumptions about the initial stateof the land cover. Generally these assumptions are based either on available historical records such asaerial photography and existing cartographic data, or on surrounding land parcels that are presumed torepresent the state of the land cover before the disturbance.
