3 Results
Of the 622 households visited during Phase 1, 469 (75.4%) interviews were performed, 116 (18.6%) houses where there was no one at home and 37 (6%) refused to participate. In Phase 2, of the 648 visited households, 409 (63.1%) interviews were performed, 229 (35.4%) houses were closed and 10 (1.5%) refused to participate, with a significantly higher proportion of participant households in Phase 1 (p < 0.001). In Phase 1, 245 households (39.4% of total or 52.2% of the interviewed) had animals (dogs and/or cats) and in Phase 2, 317 (48.8% of total or 77.5% of the interviewed) had animals, with a significantly higher proportion of households with animals in Phase 2 (p = 0.001).
