The overall mean number of HIV-related clinical features
was 8.8(±2.8). Themost common self-reported OI and
symptoms were weight loss (83.3%), skin infection (54.7%)
and prolonged fever (51%); similar in both groups (p > 0.05).
In comparison with non-NCS recipients, NCS recipients
were twice as likely to reported oral thrush (52.7% vs.
24.6%; p = 0.00) and were more likely to have moderate
(34.4% vs. 26.6%) and severe (25.5% vs. 21.7%) illnesses
(p = 0.038). However, non-NCS recipients were more likely
to have been sick compared to NCS recipients (62.3% vs.
50.5%; p = 0.037). The overall mean score for the nutrition
knowledge and attitude was 94.7(±10.4). No significant difference between the two groups (p > 0.05). However,
more NCS recipients believed that they had good eating
plans, in contrast to non-NCS recipients (52.7% vs. 42%;
p = 0.001).
