TOKYo: A strong typhoon struck near the Japanese capltal Tokyo yesterday, with rain and strong winds grounding eavy more than 400 flights as officials warned of possible landslldes and flooding. Typhoon Mindulle made landfall at about 12.30pm in Tateyama city, 80km southeast of Tokyo, the Japan Meteorologi cal Agency said. As of 2pm, the storm was packing gusts up to 180kph. It was sited near the city of Chiba, 30km east of Tokyo, and heading north at a speed of 20kph, the agency said.
