E-kanban is a variation to kanban with only one modification,
the substitution of physical signal by electronic signals. There
are descriptions of this systems in Ansari and Modarress (1995),
Vernyi and Vinas (2005), among others. The main advantages of
this system are allowing improvements in the supplier’s
relationships, when the systems are used outside the company,
focusing on evaluating the supplier’s performance instantaneously
guaranteeing accuracy in acquiring and transmitting
amounts. It can be used no matter the distance between the
productive operations, and it reduces the amount of the
company’s paperwork
