uddhists come here to gather the flowers for representations to monks according to local tradition. This activity is regarded as great credit by the people of Bang Phli so they volunteer to reserve the flowers for dispensation to visitors who row to the district to receive them every year. This tradition has gradually become one of the most famous festivals called the “Rap Bua” (lotus receiving) festival.
This festival has been maintained for many generations. Ritually, local people stand along both sides of the canal and throw lotus flowers onboard the boat bringing the huge duplicate of “Luang Poh To” Buddha image. These lotus flowers are bringing the meanings of the worship to the Triple Gem – the Lord Buddha, Dhamma and the Sangka. The visitors will also be invited to take part in their merit-making by the gesture of throwing lotus flowers onto visitors’ boats of the Bang Phli local people.
