The use of new technologies possibly has the ability to help the transformation of
public health significantly in order to cover the population’s increasing needs and
demands. The introduction of integrated information systems in public hospitals in
Greece is very likely to upgrade the services provided to people, to support more
rational allocation and use of resources (by saving resources or improving
productivity), and also to create innovative products and services. Especially, the
working conditions of personnel in the Greek National Health System (medical,
nursing, and administrative staff) have been improved considerably, and new posts
have been created by the exploitation of new technologies.
