Boys in the current study who nominated best friends with relatively high (moderate) levels of antisocial behavior tended to show concurrently higher levels of antisocial behavior themselves. This was consistent with the results of previous studies that found young children with aggressive and externalizing behavior tend to seek out and affiliate mostly with other aggressive or externalizing children (Farver, 1996, Hanish et al., 2005 and Snyder et al., 1997).
