This can be rapidly converted to propionic
acid in the rumen. On the other hand, Otaru et al.
(2011) reported that PO supplementation did not
affect the volatile fatty acids in the rumen of goats.
Additionally, Jalc et al. (2007) indicated that total
VFA and individual VFA were not affected by C18
unsaturated fatty acid supplements which rich in PO.
These variations could be caused by the proportion of
fat in the total diets.
