Linear regressions between average ECa (EM38H or EM38V) and
ECe were fitted for each depth interval. These allowed determination
of the relative contribution of ECe at different depths to ECa, and
to identify the depth from which most of the induced field is being
transmitted. Linear regressions were developed between the ECa
and average ECe for greater depth intervals (e.g. 0–150 cm depth).
These allowed a depth-averaged soil salinity to be estimated from
measurements of ECa at each measurement location.
