Echoing Brenner’s work on planetary urbanization, the circuit traced above is yet another example of how urban consumption in one place produces changes far away, out of sight from the other. This circuit is transporting resources from far distances to fuel the expansion of urban spaces and the production of new consumer lifestyles, while shifting harm and injury across borders—a trend that is occurring throughout Asia. Transborder arrangements are displacing injustice to countries with more oppressive governments.
