Thee palas [ 150gms ] of bala roots is cut into small pieces, crushed well and put into 3 prasthas [ 4200 ml ] of water. It is boiled in a mild fire until it is reduced to one forth ie 3 Kudubas [ 1050 ml ]. This decoction is than strained through a clean dry cloth and added 3 Kudubas [ 1050 ml ] of cow's milk with it. To this mixture one Kuduba [ 350gm ] of powdered Njavara rice is to be added. The powder should neither too fine nor too coarse. This is boiled on a mild fire till it attains the consistency of jelly, when it is ready for use.
