Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc met ex-President of the Senate of Malaysia Michael Cheng Wing Sum in Hà Nội yesterday, saying that Việt Nam defined the promotion of economic and trade ties with ASEAN member states, including Malaysia, as a priority.
Việt Nam always gave priority and support to Malaysian firms doing business in the country, he assured.
The PM expressed his delight to see Malaysia as one of the major trade and investment partners of Việt Nam.
A number of Malaysian projects have benefited each country’s socio-economic development, notably the Đà Nẵng Industrial Park and Phúc Lộc Viên Residential Area in Đà Nẵng’s Sơn Trà District – a joint-venture project between Malaysia’s Massada Land and the city’s development investment fund.
As Việt Nam is accelerating banking restructuring, the PM wished for support in both capital and technology from Malaysia, and believed that the CIMB bank, which has recently been licensed to operate in Việt Nam, will run effectively and bring benefits to both sides.
He also welcomed other Malaysia banks to the country.
Cheng Wing Sum, for his part, wished the Vietnamese government to continue providing support for Malaysian businesses in Việt Nam.
Speaking highly of Đà Nẵng’s economic prospects, Cheng Wing Sum expressed keen interests in launching urban development projects in the city and becoming a partner of Việt Nam and Đà Nẵng in particular.
