The benefits of exercise training on cardiorespiratory fitness are well reported, with studies typically showing approximately 12% improvement.42 Not surprisingly, greater improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness have been associated with higher intensities of aerobic training or interval training, although data on interval training in T2DM is lacking.43 and 44 Improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness is also very pertinent given its association with cardiovascular risk factors,45 cardiovascular-related mortality and all cause mortality.46
