Bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic produced by Bacillus subtilis and is effective against gram-positive bacteria, but most gram-negative against gram-positive bacteria, but most gram-negative organisms are resistant to bacitracin. Bacitracin, in the form of zinc bacitracin or bacitracin methylene disalicylate, is a very popular grown promoter for using in growning-finishing pigs in North America (Dewey et al., 1998) and for treatment and prevention of Clostridial enteritis.
