High night temperature (HNT) did not show
any significant effects on increasing crop growth and yield with
respect to the high night–day (HNDT), because plants acclimate to
warmer night temperatures. Also, during the active plant growth
average temperatures of the CK were below 0 ◦C, meaning that the
additional temperature will make the plant in a better condition
for growing.
The number of panicles was not significantly different between
the HDNT and CK treatments in the warmer year (2008/09) due
to the number of tillers, leading to higher plant densities induced
more ineffective panicles.
