Given the uncomfortable physical symptoms, such as chest pain and shortness of breath, along with the emotional toll a panic attack can take, its no wonder that many people find these attacks to be terrifying. As the somatic symptoms of a panic attack take hold, it is not uncommon for the person to experience distressful emotions and disturbing thoughts. Some of the typical fears that a person has during a panic attack are that she is going to somehow lose control over herself, she is going to go completely insane, or she is going to die from her symptoms.
The truth is that panic attacks can’t kill you. Regardless of the extent of your physical symptoms, feelings of fear and dread are also a symptom of panic attacks that will make you believe you are in danger. However, these attacks will not cause you to die.
