B. Leaders and those who rule are directly accountable to God for the people entrusted to their care.
C. JAMES 3:1- “Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter judgment,” NAS Leaders are accountable to God and held in stricter judgment than all others.
D. If I, as leader, am accountable for you, does it not make sense that I will have the right and responsibility to speak into your life and therefore make you accountable to me?
IV. BELIEVERS TO LEADERS
A. If leaders are accountable to God for you, then they have every right (in fact, they have the responsibility) to make you accountable to them!
B. The main principle of accountability is found in the parable of the shrewd manager in LUKE 16. Notice what it says in verses 1 & 2- “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and this steward was reported to him as squandering his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer steward.’” NAS
C. The principle that can see here is this: With delegation always comes accountability. If I delegate something to you, I have the right to make you accountable concerning that area.
D. The purpose of accountability is for a three-fold protection of:
